COVID 19 has come along and slapped us in the face. Before I left for tour my housemate Diane asked what effects this outbreak of death causing flu might have on my tour in Europe as many cases had broken out in Italy where we had concerts scheduled. I was nearsighted in my thought that it would have little impact on our tour.
I arrived in Munich Germany on Friday Feb 28th to meet up with the other members of the Band and drive to Dresden where we would hold a workshop for 14 participants and play a concert. On Sunday Amy Denio informed the band there was talk in Italy about shutting the boarders as the death toll was continuing to rise. We had one week before our first show in Italy. I remained optimistic that we would still be able to play our concerts as planned. By Thursday Italian government officials closed the doors on triffic in and out of Italy as well as cancelling public gatherings of groups larger than 200. We got notice from the organizers of our Ialian concerts that our gigs where cancelled. This was not what I expected.
Our tour was kind of light to begin with. three cancelled shows was not what we needed.
