After 3 weeks in Seattle working on the Tiptons recording project, I had money to pay February rent, but didn’t know how I was going to pay March.
Knowing I needed to start making more money so that I can take care of myself, I went to the Lord asking for help in paying for rent and then I also when to the temple to know how to go about getting more work.
I was praying and being worried about how all this was going to work. I was reading in 1st Nephi about how he built a ship to come to the Americas. The Lord assured me that if he could get Nephi to build a ship and bring his family across the great waters to build a new nation, then he certainly could provide the way for me to live and work as a musician. And with that knowledge he shared with me his view of the importance of the work that I am able to do as a musician. This is important work. Not everyone can do it. In fact it is way more impactful and necessary and beautiful than I have ever before considered. This is exactly what I am to be doing with my life. Nothing else.
The next day I got a phone call from Ted. He needed me to help prepare his son, Max, a current student of mine to prepare for college music school auditions. Max was freaking out and had two weeks to learn 8 months of material. Ted was willing to pay me $600 to project manage his Son. I agreed and Max came over every day for two weeks to practice with me. This covers my rent for march.
All I want to do now is book my trio and practice.
God has also helped me rearrange my priority to working, getting students, playing and booking. I want to book my band all the time now. I want to play out more than ever and share the talents the Lord has given me to share. I finally see it’s beauty and importance. God can make all thing glorious, and he does if we allow it. Thanks be to God.
