learning: aka, superpowers don’t fail me now

this week my eyes opened to see things (myself) different and new. While on the phone with a dear friend and teacher this week, she shared some humorous insights about my character of which we both laughed about. When I got of the phone, even though humorous at the time of her description, I was left with a feeling of embarrassment and sadness because this character flaw/attribute. In hind sight this should have comes as no surprise as I have been turning in prayer, asking for the spiritual gifts needed to become more like the savior.

We cannot improve upon things which we do not know we need to improve. As much as it hurt to look in the mirror and see this particular quality/character flaw, I was indeed praying for it, and this was an answer to prayer. Now that I see, and will be working on becoming more respectful to my siblings while in their homes, and a more gracious host when they come to visit me. The last thing I want to do is hurt my family and loved ones. Often times it is those I love whom I first hurt. Sheesh.

This prompted me to start seeking more spiritual gifts.

President George Q. Cannon taught: “No man ought to say, ‘Oh, I cannot help this; it is my nature.’ He is not justified in it, for the reason that God has promised to … give gifts that will eradicate [our weaknesses]. … If any of us are imperfect, it is our duty to pray for the gift that will make us perfect.”
