Pray – It works.

Last week as I was struggling to learn and apply the basics of simple home electrical (reading from a book and getting a few pointer from dear ol dad) I had wired myself into a load of frustration. I had a simple objective which was to wire a GFI outlet, which happened to be at the beginning of a long leg of outlets and switches on the south wall. When I had every thing wired and turned the breaker power on, it immediately tripped and I just didn’t know enough to fix it. Despite following diagrams and pictures in the book I was unable to solve the problem. Seemed that nothing worked that day. All my efforts were in vain.

how does this go again?

I walked away from the problem at the end of the day being so frustrated I could spit. After dinner I shared my frustrations with Dad and Mary. Unbeknown me Mary prayed for someone to show up who could help.

Two days later, as I was headed out to tackle the problem, I heard some voices outside and went to see who the visitors were. Some friends who had come to return a borrowed item from Mary. They asked how the house was coming to which I gave my frustrating report. Mary then asked the guy if we would be willing to take a look at my electrical conundrum and he graciously indulged our request.

After identifying the problematic GFI outlet, he looked at it, and in about 2 minutes explained a few basic principles to me, I understood then and all I had to do was switch two wires as they where in the wrong place. (I had no idea that GFI outlets have a line-in side, and a load-out side). He then addressed the two other questions I had and within 15 minutes, I had the know how fix all the problems, and within 15 minutes had power to every outlet and switch.

After our friends left, Mary come out to let me know that she had been praying for some one to show up that could help.

I love this place.

Next week I start the plumbing. I better start praying now for help…

God lives, he is real. He want to bless us. And he will if we let him.

three way switch. Yep, that’s how it goes.
Not finished yet. Still the dryer and stove range to attach.
