The Rest of the Lord

there is nothing that compares to the rest available on Sunday. I try and relax and rest on other days of the week, but it doesn’t compare with the deep rest, cellular rest even. I feel all the cells in my body are changed, for a 24 hour period. For me it actually begins the day before. I love Saturday because I can prepare for Sunday, a day designated for me to put the world aside and designate the day for the Lord.

I know a lady who knows no rest. She is so beside herself in the commotion and state of the world she is tore up and feels an overwhelming panic and distress. She feels it is upon her to change the world. To alert every one to change and she is putting out so much energy that she never feels at peace. Every time I engage with her is is an avalanche of bad.

This week I did a deep dive into Doctrine and Covenants section 84. I have always been intimidated by that section of scripture because all I new was that it contains the Oath and Covenant of Gods priesthood, which I formerly understood as applying only to men. BOY WAS I WRONG! It also explains further the priesthood of God. What I know understand is Ordinances are the sacred acts performed under Gods Authority to enter into his Covenants, such as baptism and confirmation of the Holy Spirit, Initiatory, endowment and sealing to my family to receive God into my life, so that I can come back into his presence. I learned that it is the Oath and Covenant of God to do all he can to bring us to be in his presence, face to face, to know the mysteries of God and to have his power manifest in my life. WOW! how cool is that! It is his covenants and ordinances, he is offering them to me, and to all people, so that we can come into his presence and enter his rest. cool right?

The description is to enter into his rest which is a fullness of His Glory. (Doctrine and Covenants 84: 24)

Maybe this is why I love the Sabbath, because it is me coming unto him, on His day, to partake of His rest and peace. Wow. What a gift and blessing.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither be afraid.” John 14:27

And it is so. How grateful I am to have the gospel of Jesus Christ, completely restored with his Authority to administer the ordinances of Salvation and everlasting life. I do not have to be troubled or afraid. I can deeply be still and have peace in my soul, no mater what the world looks like.
